It's a Boy!

We have a new nephew! Bert Francisco Villa was born at 1:17am, Sept. 29, 2008. (named after his father and grandfather) He was 7lbs 14 1/2 oz, 21 inches long. He is my sister, Laurelyn's, 4th child, so it was an easy delivery for her. She only had to push twice! (she and I are like night and day when it comes to delivering babies!) They live in Dallas, TX, so who knows when we will finally get to meet this handsome little guy. I guess we are going to have to love him through pictures for the time being. Welcome to the world little Bert!

Rootin Tootin Party

We had to celebrate Spencer's 3rd birthday a little early this year because of everyones busy schedules. Not that Spencer noticed or minded in the least bit. We decided to have a cowboy themed party since it seemed like it would be fun fun for everyone to get into. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and Spencer made out like a bandit. He loved all of his gifts, but it is safe to say that his police car from grandma and papa was his favorite!! Thank you everyone for helping this be a fantastic birthday for "Six Shot".
Yes, we had 2 cakes. We are such popular people that we have to make sure there is plenty to go around =)

Player of the Week

David's soccer coaches decided to start giving Player of the Week awards. I think the reason for receiving it is pretty self explanatory =) David is the first player on the team to get this award and we are very proud of him!

Sneak Preview

A really good friend of mine did family pictures for us yesterday. You can see a sneak peak on her photography blog, Without A Place Photography . These are just a few silly ones that got snapped either without our realizing it (thanks Jess...lol) or were snapped while the boys were being a little silly. Our actual pictures will be posted soon. But feel free to peruse her blog and peruse it often! She is an AWESOME photographer and a really great friend! So thank you Jessica for putting up with us Corbetts for the evening. And thank you Chris for letting us steal your wife for a few hours.

Scary Minnie

My niece, Carmen, had a Minnie Mouse birthday party this weekend. The kids had a lot of fun at the park, flying kites, playing baseball, and breaking open the pinata. (although, David did get hit in the face with the plastic bat. It has to happen to someone every time, right?) Anyway, the highlight of the party was when the scariest looking Minnie Mouse any of us have ever seen shows up. The kids were weary of her at first, but got over the initial fright. The seemed to be having a great time dancing and doing the limbo. Minnie just kind of stood there while this guy did all the interaction with the kids. They didn't seem to mind though, they thought he was hilarious. I guess as long as the kids had fun, that is all that matters.

Hullabaloo!!!

David has been begging me to get the Hullabaloo game out of the closet for quite some time. They have had it since Christmas, and I have been reluctant to open it. They have so many board games and they are always making huge messes with them. So I just figured that this would be no different. Well, I was very wrong. This game is just some pads that you lay on the floor that they jump, skip, gallop, dance and stomp around to. They have to know their colors, shapes and animals, so it's not just an active game, but it also lets them exercise their minds. It is so fun to watch them dance around the room acting silly. They also have to touch their noses, elbows and knees to the pads while pretending to be certain animals, it is very entertaining. And since the winner is the one that is standing on the pad called out at the end, Spencer has just as much chance at winning as David. I highly recommend this game to anyone who has young children!!

Girls, Games, and Junk Food

Last night 3 of my favorite friends came over to play. They took time out of their busy, busy lives for a few hours of down time. We had such a great time playing games, talking, eating yummy snack food (what we could pull away from pregnant Nicole...haha), and of course, LAUGHING! We always say we are going to get together more often and it just doesn't happen. We even go so far as to make plans, and for one reason or another, they always get cancelled. Flakes! (just kidding) We have all been friends since we were really young and have managed to hang onto that friendship all these years. I am so lucky to have such great friends! And we really need to make more of an effort to get together more often. And there are a few others who need to be there next time (you know who you are!).

Little Sneaks

Monday night Chad and I put the kids to bed as usual. After tucking them in, we went into the living room to watch t.v. and relax. We never heard any noise from their room and figured they just went to sleep. They rarely give us a hard time about going to sleep, so this wasn't unusual. An hour or so later, I went into my room to get ready for bed. On my bed was a huge pile of pillows and four legs sticking out of them. The boys had snuck out of their beds and buried themselves in pillows on our bed and fell asleep. It was so funny to us and super cute! Here is a picture of what I walked into.

Pillow Fight

My boys have their own unique way of pillow fighting. They put the pillowcases on their heads and then bump each other around, trying to knock the other down, with the pillows. It is actually really funny to watch! And if they fall, they are well padded =) But even with the padding it was making me nervous. Not only was I afraid they would hurt themselves, who knows what kind of damage they were doing to my pillowcases! So after taking a few pictures, I broke up the fun. I am such a mean mom..ha ha

Rain Dance

Today it rained a little unexpectedly. The boys were ecstatic! (Typical behavior for Las Vegas children) They went out into the backyard, danced in the rain and splashed in the puddles. They were having a blast! And apparently their little rain dance worked, cause a little while later, we had a rainbow. Another thing the boys were ecstatic about. =)

Soccer Season

It is soccer season for us once again. David is on the Rangers again this year, with the same coaches and a couple of the same players. (new jerseys though) He had his first game this morning and he scored 3 goals! He was pleased to find out that he is number 23 again, just like David Beckham. I love watching our little man out on the field and he really loves being there.

He Did It!

I have been struggling to potty train Spencer for quite some time now. I will admit that I haven't been extremely consistent, but it is really hard when he fights me on it. He has gone several times in the big potty, but only when I force him on it. He cries every time I place him on the big potty. And then after he goes, he says, through his tears, "I did it!". I was using a seat that just sits on the actual toilet, since that is what I used with David. It took months of crying and fighting for me to realize that he is probably intimidated by the big toilet. (yes, I am that dense) So yesterday, we went to Babies R Us and let Spencer pick out his very own little potty. He chose the Elmo potty chair and he even paid for it himself at the register. He was so excited to give the lady the money and get back some coins. It was too late when we got home last night to let him try it out, so today when I got home from work, I put big boy underwear on him. After we put them on, he smiled and said, "They don't hurt.". Then he ran to Chad and said, "Daddy I am just like you!". I reminded him to potty on his chair and then let him play. (trying to keep him on the tile and off the furniture) He had one accident, but after that he pottied twice in his chair! He was so stunned at first, then he looked up at me and put his little hands in the air and said, (without tears this time) "I did it! I'm a big boy!" I let him call everyone and tell them his good news and then he danced around the house singing, "I did it, I did it". I cried. I was so proud of him and was so excited to see how proud he was of himself, I just started crying. (that isn't uncommon when it comes to my kids. Chad laughs at me all the time for it) It was happy crying, I didn't want to scare him that mommy was upset. But he kept telling me he was so happy and that I was so happy. So I guess he knew I was happy. David was having a little bit of a hard time with Spencer's attention he was getting, it was a little funny. He tends to get jealous of the attention Spencer gets when he hits each milestone. I told him tomorrow was going to be about him since it is his first soccer game of the season. (expect that blog tomorrow) He looked at me and said, "okay! But that means Spencer has to stay home!" They both just make me laugh, so often. They are such amazing little guys and Chad and I are so blessed to be their parents. I am so proud of them both!!

Verrazanos

If you know us at all, one of our favorite places to eat is Verrazano Pizza! We love it, all of our close friends love it, and even our picky little eaters (the boys) love it! We have been eating there for so long that the owner, Ed, knows us by name. He doesn't just know us, he knows details about us and our family. (Laurelyn, he asked that you don't send him bad vibes from Texas since you couldn't be there with us today.) Ed is awesome, but hopefully he never sees this cause he would kill me for putting a picture of him on here. =) Eds not the only one though, the whole staff is very friendly. But forget the staff, the food there is so super delicious! The ranch they make is what really does it for me! The ranch is so good that I have friends that would actually drink it...(Julia, j/k...kinda) I am even so super cool that I have the secret recipe! (Don't ever let that information get out, Ed may never let me back in)
Anyhow, we had lunch there today with one of my best friends, Kristal. She is so great, so if you don't know her already, you should really meet her. (She is always looking for new friends, so if you want her number, just email me and I will give it to you.) Kidding Kristal =) We would have had another friend with us but she decided that working is a little more important than hanging out with us...NICOLE. It's okay, we still had a great time visiting and eating and basically just taking up space in the restaurant. (Sorry La, I would box up some fingers and send them to you if I knew it would last) =)
Here are a few pictures that we took with Kristal's new iPhone.

(This is the owner Ed. Remember, this picture was taken secretly. But according to Chad, James Bond has nothing to worry about since I suck at being sneaky.)
