Sling Shot And Round Head

Our poor little Spencer hurt himself playing at Chuck E Cheeses last night. We spent about 3 1/2 hours in the emergency room because I was worried that he might have broke his arm. Luckily the xrays told us otherwise. It seems he just twisted his elbow pretty bad. So our cute little guy has to sport this sling for a couple of days. To top off his misery, daddy keeps calling him "sling shot". Though he has made up for it by providing some much needed fun for Spencer. David was jumping around the house on one of those hoppy balls, and Spencer wanted to do it too, so bad. And seeing as he is down to one arm right now, daddy put him on the ball and bounced him around the house. It was the first real smile we had gotten out of him since he hurt himself. What a nice daddy!

Today we also decided it was time for David to go back to being a "round head". He likes to have his head shaved like his daddys in the summer. And he refers to anyone with a shaved head as a round head. So as of today, he is officially a round head again. That's right, I live with a sling shot and a couple of round heads. And I am crazy about all three of them!

Family Fun in Las Vegas!

We decided to pack up the boys today and see what adventures we could find in the heart of Las Vegas. We only had one true destination in mind, to make it to Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay.
Our adventure began at the Bellagio conservatory where the boys were excited to see all the different butterflies and flowers that were on display.

After drinking in all the beauty of the Bellagio (and dodging everyone else vying for photo ops) we headed across the street to Ballys to ride the Monorail! Upon arrival we found out why the monorail is facing bankruptcy. A round trip to the MGM and back would have cost us $36. So back to the Bellagio we went to climb back aboard our much more affordable Element! The boys were pretty bummed about not riding on the train, so thanks to moms quick thinking, we ducked into the Excalibur and boarded their FREE monorail to Mandalay Bay. When we arrived at MB Spencer let everyone know he enjoyed the ride, "That was a great choo choo train" became his quote for the day.

The whole family had fun inside Shark Reef. Thanks to my corporate connections the price is very affordable, and David knows which marine animals are his favorite now that he's been through 4 times.

And He's Out!

Here is David playing his favorite position, pitcher. He got the ball, threw it to first base and got the runner out! Chad is quite proud of these pictures, and quite proud of his son because he is shaping into a pretty good ball player. Not only is he getting better on the field, but he is getting better at batting. Today he got his second home run!!! He now thinks that he will get a home run every game =) He is sitting right next to me and said that he would like to thank his fans. In his words, "Thank you to everyone who comes to my games, I love you all!"










Can't forget about Spencer. Here he is dreaming about the day when he gets to play baseball. He loves going to the ball fields and watching David. Though he does lose focus pretty quick and starts playing around. It will be a lot of fun (busy fun) when Spencer is old enough to start playing sports too.

My Weekend Away

This weekend I took a small break from my duties as mommy and went to visit my sister Laurelyn and her family in McKinney Texas. (a small suburb outside of Dallas) It was very relaxing and a lot of fun. I always have a great time when I am with my sister. It was a very short trip, but exactly what I needed to recharge.



On my first day there we had lunch in Dallas and they took me to the spot where JFK was assassinated. This is quite a little tourist attraction. The city has built a monument on the "grassy null" and there are people handing out pamphlets and videos about the conspiracy. They have even placed an X in the street at the exact spot where Kennedy was shot. I took this picture from the vantage point where they say the real shooter stood behind the grassy null. The people holding poster boards on the grass were people picketing and handing out information against the church of Scientology. Most of them were wearing pretty creepy masks. I guess they figured this was a spot for conspiracy theorists, so they chose it to turn people against Scientology. The information they handed out was actually pretty interesting, but that is a whole different story. =)

Here is also a picture of the window that, history says, Lee Harvey Oswald shot from. I watched the movie JFK a long time ago. So really I don't presume to have an opinion of what really happened. I will leave all that stuff to the conspiracy theory people. =)

The rest of my trip was just a lot of hanging out with my sister, Bert and the kids. Bert made us good food, the kids entertained me with dancing, and La and I indulged ourselves with shopping and eyebrow waxings. My last night there, Laurelyn and Bert took me out for sushi and a movie, 'Smart People'. It was really nice to just be there and have nothing to worry about.

Laurelyn's pregnant belly. She was fighting morning sickness the whole weekend. She is about 16 weeks pregnant, so the sickness will be gone soon...hopefully.

It was a really nice weekend and I loved the time I got with Laurelyn and her family. But I truly missed Chad and the boys. Being away from them is a lot harder than I thought it would be. They really are my whole life and I love them so much! They had fun with their "boys weekend" but it was obvious when I got back how much I was missed. David talked the whole way home from the airport and they all kept telling me how happy they were that I was home. They even surprised me with a spotless house! They are amazing and I am so happy to be home!

Brotherly Love

Chad and I have decided that our t.v. is on way too much. A lot of times it's not even being watched. It is just on as background noise, which is completely unnecessary since I get more background noise than I need from the two boys. So we decided that they have an allotted amount of time for t.v. and video games. The rest of the time, they are left to their toys and their imaginations. I try to push them outback to play, but on days like today where it was "too cold", all the action takes place indoors. But that is okay, cause it is never a dull moment when David and Spencer are playing. A few of their favorites are, hide and seek, (which they are both horrible at cause they are never completely hidden. Sometimes they will hide under the bed, but their legs will be sticking out and they will be giggling loudly.) football, (which makes me crazy cause they think it is great to tackle each other in my living room, and without fail, someone always ends up crying) and blocks (which is always fantastic cause it makes a huge mess and David always ends up yelling at Spencer because Spencer thinks it's hilarious to knock down whatever David is building). They love to build forts together and race their little cars together. I honestly love watching them play together though. They do fight, but more often than not, they are playing good together. They are best friends and they are always looking out for each other. If one of them gets hurt, the other one is always right there, asking them if they are okay and giving hugs. If Spencer gets in trouble, he always runs to David and cries on his shoulder while David tells him that it's okay. They wont go to bed without kissing each other good night, which melts my heart every time. I am so glad that I have two great boys that care so much about each other.

Momma's Monkeys

Today was a fun filled day full of Tball, shopping and family. The kids wore themselves out with the swingset and backyard toys at Grammy's house. And of course, I had my camera =) This was just one of David's many "mom, take a picture of me" moments.

Spencer was very insistent that he just hang there for awhile. I was pretty suprised at how long this little guy held out!

Crayons and shaving cream, what more do you need?

David and Spencer LOVE to color. Spencer is just getting to the stage where his pictures are starting to look a little more like pictures and not just random scribbles. Don't get me wrong, they are still scribbles, just more elaborate scribbles. He tries so hard and he is always so proud of his creations. Everytime he finishes he comes running to me saying, "I did it!" Here is a picture of his latest masterpiece. It will hang proudly on the fridge for a few weeks or until his next drawing takes its place.

Nothing says "Man" like a razor and a face covered in shaving cream. As soon as it comes time for daddy to shave before work, these two goof balls come running. This is their "Man" time with their dad. As David was getting ready to start "shaving" I heard him say, "this is what shaving is all about, right dad?" I have no idea what that means. But they take this very serious. (although, we couldn't find the second pretend razor, so Spencer was shaving with the screwdriver from his plastic tool kit) And it's not just these guys that love this routine, Chad absolutely loves that his boys want to be just like him! It actually is really sweet to watch this all take place. My three guys standing together and bonding through shaving cream.
