We decided to pack up the boys today and see what adventures we could find in the heart of Las Vegas. We only had one true destination in mind, to make it to Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay.
Our adventure began at the Bellagio conservatory where the boys were excited to see all the different butterflies and flowers that were on display.
After drinking in all the beauty of the Bellagio (and dodging everyone else vying for photo ops) we headed across the street to Ballys to ride the Monorail! Upon arrival we found out why the monorail is facing bankruptcy. A round trip to the MGM and back would have cost us $36. So back to the Bellagio we went to climb back aboard our much more affordable Element! The boys were pretty bummed about not riding on the train, so thanks to moms quick thinking, we ducked into the Excalibur and boarded their FREE monorail to Mandalay Bay. When we arrived at MB Spencer let everyone know he enjoyed the ride, "That was a great choo choo train" became his quote for the day.
The whole family had fun inside Shark Reef. Thanks to my corporate connections the price is very affordable, and David knows which marine animals are his favorite now that he's been through 4 times.

I vote for you guys as the cutest family in Vegas for sure!
It's a good thing you are up on the reunion stuff. I wouldn't have a clue! I saw Camille Graves once at the Temple and she said I had to go. We missed Chris's so it might be twisting arms to get him to go to mine. Anyways, cool field trip to the shark reef. I need to take Jared sometime. He would love it.
Chad and Autumn,
I work for the Las Vegas Monorail Company and came across your blog via Google. Great blog, love the pictures and you have a beautiful family!!
I apologize that you weren't made aware of the local fare. I wanted to let you know that locals with a valid Nevada ID can ride the Monorail for $1 and children 5 and under ride for free. Our local fare is $1 per single ride ticket with a limit of two single ride tickets per person per day. All you have to do is present your valid Nevada ID to a customer service booth located at any of our stations to get this special fare. Our customer service booths are open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
I hope during your next family outing on the Las Vegas Strip you give the Monorail another try.
Have a great day.

Woah, you got googled by a monorail staffer, cool beans dude! And the price for locals? That's to die for, seriously. It makes me want to be a local. :(
This sounds like it was such a fun trip! It's a great idea for a girl's weekend when we come out, huh? :)
