Hard at Work

I absolutely LOVE seeing these two quietly working on something together. They sat together doing their "school work" for quite a while today. Spencer is just learning to write his letters, which is so exciting for him. He is so proud of himself and we are so proud of him! I love that doing workbooks is fun to them. Grandma bought David his first workbooks when he was 3. Between the workbooks and me working with him, he was writing his name well before preschool. That is what we are trying to do with Spencer too. Grandma just bought Spencer his first workbook. (thanks Grandma!!) He will be in preschool in the fall and I would love it if he could write his name as well. He loves practicing and gets so excited when he writes a letter. And David is such a big helper. He always wants to sit right next to Spencer while he is working in his workbook. He is always showing him what needs to be done on each page. Sometimes I think Spencer prefers getting his directions from David rather than me. They are both such smart boys (something they get from their smart daddy) that just love to learn!

Elder Todd Corbett

Chad's youngest brother, Todd, left early Tuesday for his mission. After almost 24 hours of travelling, he is now serving in Cape Town, South Africa. We were all really sad to see him off, but are really excited for him and what he is doing! Todd is going to be a great missionary! There is no doubt about that! 2 years seems like such a long time right now, but I am sure it will fly by! We are going to all miss him so much!

Let's Celebrate!

This weekend we celebrated David's 6th birthday. He had a big football party at Buckskin Basin park. The weather was actually really nice. (an extreme concern every year) He asked everyone to wear football shirts or jerseys, and pretty much everyone did! We had a really good turn out too. I realized that as your kids get older, the more people they have in their lives. When all was said and done, there were about 75+ people at the party! Good thing we had it at the park! The maximum capacity of my home is less than half of that! This was the first party I have ever thrown that had absolutely no food or cake (and we even had 2!)left over at the end. He had a lot of fun with his friends and family. We are so thankful that so many people showed up to celebrate with us. David is a great kid, he really deserved this.

The pinata broke because it was too heavy. Too finish busting it, Papa through it up and let it come crashing to the ground. Look at the kids faces...hilarious!

Our family went bowling on Tuesday night for Chad's dad's birthday. It was a lot of fun! In one lane, there was a lot of competition, as usual, between the guys. I am not really sure who the ultimate winner was, I think Jason maybe? But in the other lane, there were fun little explosions of victory. (whether pins were knocked down or not)

Six!

Yesterday was David's 6th birthday. Can you believe that I am the mother of a 6 year old? Ya, me neither. Anyway, per David's request, we woke him up with a "surprise" breakfast of cinnamon rolls.

After breakfast, it was time for school. One of the perks of being the mom of the birthday boy is you get to supply treats for his class! They turned out pretty cute, huh? Oh, and in case you haven't figured it out, he is having a football themed birthday party. What can I say? The boy LOVES football!

After School, he rushed home to open his present from us (yes, we bought him an ipod, but it is only the shuffle so he isn't too spoiled.) and go to lunch. He chose Verizzanos for lunch!! (that's my boy)

Later in the evening, he had tball practice. His grandma brought cupcakes for all his teammates, and they all sang to him there. He absolutely LOVES the attention! After practice, we picked up my mom and she took us to dinner. He chose Olive Garden (yes, it was a great day for me too!) and they sang to him and gave him a whole cake. ($7 for the cake and singing! What happened to a free scoop of ice cream?)

All in all it was a great day! We all had a really fun day, not just David. I love my big 6 year old. He is really such a sweet, helpful, caring, smart boy. We are so lucky to have him as our son.
